BEST COLORS FOR PHOTOS
Choosing the Best Colors for you Wedding
There are millions of colors the
human eye perceives. How do you know what looks best for your wedding
photos? Keep in mind this simple rule: The colors you choose for
your wedding should coincide with the location you will be shooting
your photos.
EXAMPLE #1
If your wedding and reception will be on a “golf course, then – MED
to DARK GREEN would not be a good choice for the brides-maids dresses. Think
contrasting colors – you might choose a light, pastel pink or blue for
the bridesmaids so they don’t blend into the backgrounds too much.
EXAMPLE #2
If your wedding will be in a formal Church setting and the reception in a formal
country club, then you might decide to stay with a more traditional black
and white combination. Black and white is the most classic approach to wedding
attire and it always photographs well in both black and white and color images.
EXAMPLE #3
IF you have the opportunity to have your wedding and reception at or near the
beach, then the colors are unlimited. Bright greens, blues and pinks will
contrast well against the ocean background and neutral tones of the beach.
You might even decide to go with a tropical Hawaiian theme and incorporate
lays, flowers and bright colors.
EXAMPLE #4
Refer to this image below for a wedding that we shot in the mountains of North
Carolina. We thought the Bride did a fantastic job of choosing casual attire
that really blended well with the mountain country club. In this case she
had the girls in dark skirts white tops and the groomsmen worn Khaki Pants
and Fishing Ties with blue jackets.

Notice how the white tops and the
dark bottoms contrast in this image. All light colors such as tan,
pink, and any other pastel colors will show up as white in black
and white photos.
For Black & White photos – black
and white combinations are best. However, any light shade of
color will translate into white in black in white photos. Stay
with contrasting colors and be careful not to blend into the
surrounds of where you wedding will occur. |
